Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Sub-Etha Press uses cookies and similar technologies on the website subethapress.com (the “Site”).
The short version: we don’t use cookies to track you.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to track browsing activity across sites.
Cookies on this Site
This Site does not set any non-essential cookies.
We use two analytics services, and neither one sets cookies. Cloudflare Analytics operates entirely at the server/network layer — it does not inject any JavaScript into your browser, does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track visitors across websites. Fathom Analytics loads a small script in your browser but is cookieless — it sets no cookies, collects no personal data, creates no user profiles, and does no cross-site tracking.
The only cookies or similar storage this Site may use are strictly necessary ones, described in the next section.
Because we do not set non-essential cookies, no cookie consent banner is required or displayed on this Site.
Strictly necessary cookies
If you use interactive features on this Site (such as the newsletter signup form), your browser may use minimal, technically necessary cookies or local storage to process the form submission.
Our newsletter signup form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused bot- and spam-protection widget. To tell human visitors apart from bots, Turnstile may set a strictly necessary token, cookie, or local-storage entry on your device. This is used solely to verify your form submission and protect the form from abuse.
Cloudflare also serves this Site as our CDN and security proxy. To keep the Site secure and available, Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies (for example, bot-management or security tokens).
These cookies and tokens are strictly necessary for the functionality you requested or for the security and operation of the Site. They are exempt from consent requirements under applicable law (including the EU ePrivacy Directive, Article 5(3), as implemented by national legislation). They are not used for analytics, advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking, and none of them persists beyond what is needed for the functionality or security purpose it serves.
Third-party cookies
We do not embed any third-party content that sets tracking or advertising cookies — no social media widgets, embedded videos, advertising networks, or tracking pixels. The third-party services integrated into this Site are:
- Cloudflare Analytics — server-side only; no cookies, no JavaScript, no personal data collection.
- Fathom Analytics — a cookieless analytics script; sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — an embedded bot- and spam-protection widget on our newsletter signup form. It processes limited technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) and may set a strictly necessary token, cookie, or local-storage entry to verify submissions and block abuse. It does not track you across sites or serve advertising.
- Google Fonts — our web fonts are served by Google Fonts, which transmits your IP address to Google LLC (USA) when the fonts load. This is used only to deliver the Site’s typography. This integration does not set advertising or tracking cookies on your device.
Apart from the strictly necessary token, cookie, or local-storage entry that Cloudflare Turnstile and Cloudflare’s security layer may set (described above), none of these services places cookies on your device.
How to manage cookies in your browser
Even though we don’t set tracking cookies, you can control cookies in your browser at any time:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking or deleting cookies will not affect your ability to read the Site, since we don’t rely on them for content. Note that blocking the strictly necessary Turnstile or security cookies described above may prevent the newsletter signup form from working.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add functionality that requires additional cookies (such as a shopping cart, login system, or embedded content), we will update this policy, add the relevant disclosures, and implement a cookie consent mechanism as required by applicable law.
